Unity fighting pushes yet more people into northern Warrap

More displaced people have started arriving to Twic County via Unity State counties Abiemnhom and Mayom following fighting in Unity state, with the number of new arrivals already at least 300 people.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, Twic County Commissioner Biar Biar said, “We have received displaced from Abiemnhom and Pariang. Right now they are staying in two places within Twic County, that is Manawan and Manangui.”

He said he had reported the issue to non-governmental aid organizations to go visit the displaced, who came without food.

“According to the report from Red Cross whom I sent to assess the total number of IDPs, they reported 316 displaced in Manangui and they are heading to Manawan to assess the population there and then give me full reports,” he explained.

The commissioner also explained that the county suffered a cattle raid at at Majok Noon.

“On the 5th May at 12:00 p.m. there was an attack in the area with huge number from Mayom County but because they came in huge numbers we fought them for almost eight hours until we repulsed them,” Biar stated.

“At least 12 people killed on my side as the commissioner and 19 wounded while from the attackers we counted over 50 dead after the fighting.

Biar also revealed that the attackers managed to run away with 90 cattle.
