Three civilians were killed on Friday and another was injured as a result of a shooting in the Joda border area of Renk County in Upper Nile State of South Sudan.
District police chief Lt. James Paul Edward told Radio Tamazuj that the shooting incident in Joda killed 3 civilians including a Sudanese businessman named Magdi Yagoub Adam.
Edward pointed out that the armed group attacked the Joda police station and caused panic amid residents and IDPs who had fled to the Joda area due to conflict elsewhere in Upper Nile State.
“In fact what happened yesterday was something very regretful,” he said, speaking on Saturday. “Around 10:30 I was coming from the market to the police station for inspection.”
“I found two officers and I talked with them and urged them to take care. After my arrival back to my house the fighting broke out,” the police chief said, identifying the other two victims as Tegi and Redouan.
