The UN refugee agency (UNHCR) will open a new camp in northern Kenya to provide shelter for people fleeing the escalating conflict between Sudan and South Sudan.
UNHCR Kenya spokesman Emmanuel Nyabera told Reuters 100 refugees are arriving every day.
He said ‘the government and the local community chose a site called Kalopa with a capacity of 80,000 people around 25 km from Kakuma.’
The spokesman added that they are now in the process of finalising procedures to begin preparing for an influx from the two countries.
