UN secretary-general asks Khartoum to ‘exercise restraint’

The UN secretary-general Ban Ki-Moon has reportedly told the Sudanese foreign minister Ali Karti to exercise more restraint in Heglig. The secretary-general also asked Karti to allow international players to negotiate with South Sudan its withdrawal from the area. The foreign minister thanked Ban Ki-Moon for the international community backing Khartoum’s claim that Juba aggressively entered Sudanese territory. He also stressed that it is not Khartoum’s intention to attack the South Sudan’s sovereignty.
