UN plans to resume aid flights to Yida, Malakal and more on Monday

The UN Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS) plans to resume flights to field locations after a week of cancellations owing to conditions in Juba.

The UN Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS) plans to resume flights to field locations after a week of cancellations owing to conditions in Juba.

The relief flights will help maintain or restore aid programmes that were put at risk by fighting in the South Sudanese capital.

UNHAS advised users today that it is planning for “limited services” starting Monday to these locations: Aweil; Wau; Rubkona, Malakal, Yida, Pagak and Leer. These flights are subject to receipt of flight safety assurances, however.

The airline said that all the bookings in its system for travels between 9th to 15th July will be cancelled automatically, so organizations should contact UNHAS again to advise if they want to retain the bookings or cancel.

Fresh bookings in and out of the locations may be processed online no later than 12:00 tomorrow, Saturday, 16 July, the airline announced.
