The UN Under Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix is scheduled to visit South Sudan’s capital, Juba from July 31st to 2nd August, 2017.
According to a statement issued by the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) on Friday, Lacroix will hold meetings with government officials, advocate for a country-wide cessation of hostilities, reinforce the importance of an inclusive political solution towards ending the current conflict, and greater cooperation with the UN Mission and humanitarian actors.
The top UN official is also scheduled to undertake two field visits while in country.
