UN official to step in on peace negotiations on Blue Nile and South Kordofan

The United Nations Special Envoy to Sudan and South Sudan Haile Menkerios will put forward a proposal to resolve differences between the Sudanese government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North and end the conflict in the regions of South Kordofan and Blue Nile, according to Sudanese government sources.

Negotiations between the two sides were suspended late last month.

The senior official told the Sudan Tribune Menkerios had arrived in Khartoum to meet with President Omar al-Bashir and present the proposal.
