UN delegation 'promises' services in Maban refugee camps

A delegation representing various UN bodies has promised to provide support in different areas to refugees living in Maban camps in Upper Nile state.

“The delegation promised they will support developmental projects in Maban, in addition to medical care and schools for the refugees, because they found that about 120,000 refugees are facing deteriorating health condition and their children lack schooling,” Maban Commissioner James Pasha said.

In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, Pasha said the nine-person UN delegation visited Doro camp with the intention to inspect development priorities and the condition of refugees.

The delegation consisted of representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
