Daud Abu Kalam, Um Dorein Locality Commissioner in Sudan’s South Kordofan State says he will cooperate with the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N) to provide essential services to the conflict-affected people in the locality.
The SPLA-North controls parts of the Um Dorein locality.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Abu Kalam noted that Um Dorien is one of the most affected localities by the ongoing war in South Kordofan state.
He further said a large number of local residents escaped to the government-controlled areas while others fled to the rebel-held areas.
The locality official pointed out that they carried out preliminary surveys on how to provide services to citizens, stressing that the citizens are their top priority.
“We want to cooperate with the SPLM-North in order to reach a joint vision on how to render services to the conflict-affected people in the areas under their control,” he said.
However, the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N) has been frequently reporting attacks on civilians in Um Dorein by the Sudanese Air Force.
