Uganda’s president arrives in Khartoum for South Sudan talks

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni arrived in Sudan’s capital Khartoum this morning to attend a new round of peace talks between South Sudanese parties, the Sudan news agency reported.

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni arrived in Sudan's capital Khartoum this morning to attend a new round of peace talks between South Sudanese parties, the Sudan news agency reported.

Museveni was received upon arrival at Khartoum airport by his Sudanese counterpart Omar al-Bashir.

The two presidents will hold a joint session of talks on a number of issues of mutual interest between the two countries and revival of the peace process in South Sudan, which will be held under the auspices of President Omar al-Bashir.

The East African regional bloc IGAD tasked Sudan to host a new round of talks today between South Sudanese President Salva Kiir and the opposition leader Riek Machar.
