Two women were shot dead Tuesday while collecting grass in Baidit Payam, according to Bor county commissioner Isaac Mamer Ruk.
The Jonglei state government deployed security forces in response, Mamer told a local radio station.
Mamer urged residents in the area to remain calm and allow security forces to investigate. The indentity of the killers is not known.
