Two Sudanese nationals were on Sunday killed after misunderstandings between Sudanese herders and local hunters in Nyinbuoli area of South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, police said.
Major General James Simon, the police commissioner of the defunct Lol State, told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that fighting between Sudanese pastoralists and local hunters has resulted in the killing of two Rezeigat tribesmen, while two hunters from Dinka Malual community sustained injuries.
The police officer identified those killed as Saeed Ali and Abdurrahman Ali. He added that the injured include Peter Deng Lual and Dut Chuor.
The police commissioner said a joint peace committee comprising of members from Dinka Malual and Rezeigat communities are investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, the Aweil hospital director, Reec Mathok Diing said the health facility had received the injured hunters.
Deng Deng Akuei, the head of the joint peace committee between Dinka Malual, Rezeigat and Messeriya communities condemned the attack and called for calm among communities in the border areas.
He said the matter would be resolved amicably.
