An ambush on the Bor-Juba highway has left at least two SPLA soldiers dead. The victims of the Tuesday attack were travelling on a commercial vehicle carrying fresh fish from Bor to Juba, according to sources.
When reached for comment, Mamer Ruk, the Bor County Commissioner said the incident happened near Kormakuach Bridge.
“A vehicle trading between Juba and Bor was attacked in the morning, two soldiers were killed on the spot and other passengers are in good condition and the attackers didn’t show up, they just opened fire to the car and they just hid in the bush,” said Ruk.
The commissioner said he will not follow up the case because the incident happened in territory which does not belong to his county.
“We will not intervene because the passengers are from Jonglei, the car is from Jonglei and the incident happened in the territory of Jubek State and the authority of Jubek state are the ones to deal with that particular situation,” Ruk stressed.
