At least two soldiers from the Sudan People’s Liberation Army were killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen on the Pageri area of Eastern Equatoria state Wednesday morning, according to army officials.

SPLA spokesperson Col. Philip Aguer described the attackers as “criminals” in an interview with Radio Tamazuj.

He said a separate attack was carried out by SPLA-IO forces in the Gabaat area of northern Upper Nile state Wednesday morning.

SPLM-IO external relations head Dhieu Mathok claimed the SPLA had attacked their position in Eastern Equatoria state Wednesday.

Mathok said he was concerned about the possibility of “full-scale war” if the government does not sign the latest peace agreement in Addis Ababa in the coming weeks.
