Two female refugees from South Sudan were wounded after a Ugandan police officer shot at people at a food aid distribution site in Bidi-Bidi camp in northern Uganda on Wednesday, several refugees said.

James Laud, the head of Block Five at Bidi-Bida camp, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that a Ugandan police officer accidentally shot at the people who were at the food distribution site where refugees were queuing to receive food and some money.

He pointed out that two female refugees sustained injuries and they were taken to hospital for treatment. James revealed that the food distribution was disrupted by the incident.

The South Sudanese refugee called on the Ugandan government to investigate the incident.
