SPLA-IO troops allied to South Sudan’s former first vice president Riek Machar admitted that at least two soldiers were killed and two others wounded from their side during clashes with government forces at Natabu area west of Wau town on Friday.

Col. William Gatjiath Deng, Spokesman of the SPLA-IO, told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that they repulsed attacks launched by government forces on their position in the area.

Gatjiath admitted that at least two SPLA-IO soldiers were killed and three others wounded from their side during the clashes, claiming they also killed 18 government soldiers at Natabu.

Earlier this week, the SPLA deputy spokesman Santo Domic said that only four of the government forces were injured. He claimed that they killed seven opposition forces during the clashes.

But a medical source said at least 12 people including two officers were killed and seven others sustained injuries during the clashes.
