A renowned lawyer and another person were killed and two police officers injured in an attack by unknown assailants in El Abassiya locality in South Kordofan state Monday.The lawyer, Abdullah Abdel-Gadir, and another person were being escorted by the police officers when people attacked them with sticks. It came after the four men inspected a disputed agricultural project in the Al Nila area of the locality. It is not yet clear if that is related.
The two wounded police officers were taken to Um Ruaba Hospital in North Kordofan state for treatment.
