At least two people including a child were reportedly killed in cattle raids last week in Maban County in Upper Nile State. Local residents expressed concern over insecurity in the area following the incident.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, the Maban County Commissioner James Pasha stated one person was killed on the spot during clashes with the cattle raiders in an area near Jandressa refugee camp on Wednesday.
He further revealed a 16 year-old boy was also killed in a similar incident on the following day. The official pointed out that the two separate incidents caused fear and panic among the local population.
Gradual return to Malakal
In neighbouring town of Malakal, dozens of local residents who fled the town following the fighting are returning back home.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj from Malakal town on Friday, several returnees said there were transported from the west bank by humanitarian organizations to Malakal, saying there were given shelter, food and medicines.
The war-affected people commended the role played by the humanitarian organizations in helping them with some relief items as they return back home.
