Two MPs scuffle at parliament over seat dispute

Two legislators were seen scuffling at South Sudan parliament following an argument over a seat when finance minister was tabling this year’s budget before the parliament on Monday.

Several MPs who asked for anonymity told Radio Tamazuj that the scuffle ensued after Aleu Ayeny Aleu came late and found Kuony Waar occupied his seat during a joint sitting of the national legislature.

“Hon. Aleu came and tried to force Hon. Kuony out of the chair, so Kuony also reacted and started to retaliate. But they were separated and then taken out of the parliament,” one of the lawmakers said.

Another MP deplored what happened inside the parliament. “The MPs were actually sitting randomly when the budget was being presented because the sitting was a joint sitting for the two houses,” he explained.
