Two killed, six wounded by ‘SAF bombing’ in Jau

At least two people have reportedly been killed, and six others injured, when the Sudanese Air Forces (SAF) reportedly bombed the area of Jau in South Sudan’s Unity State last Saturday.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the Unity State Minister of Information, Nyaliek John Dak, and the spokesman of Unity State government, Tabum Jany Rial, confirmed the incident and claimed that the Sudanese Air Forces (SAF) attacked the area of Jau , at the South Sudan-Sudan border, resulting in the killing of a man and a woman and serious injury of six others, who have been taken to a hospital in Bentiu town for treatment.

The victims were identified as Malual Kok and Chai Kok. Among the six wounded are women and children besides one SPLA soldier.

Rial expressed deep dismay over the incident, in particular since it happened after the recent Bashir-Kiir summit in Khartoum, during which recently a mutual understanding was reached, showing positive signs of cooperation between the two countries.

Rial demanded an urgent and transparent investigation by Unisfa forces into the bombing which was allegedly carried out by SAF. For his part, the official spokesman of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has refused to comment on the bombing claims by South Sudan.
