At least two raiders were confirmed killed on Tuesday when local youths from Kolnyang Payam clashed with cattle raiders at Cuei-Kheer Boma in Jonglei State.

Malueth Machar, a cattle camp leader who participated in the clashes told Radio Tamazuj on Friday that the local youths from Cuei Kheer boma clashed with suspected Murle raiders and managed to recover some raided cattle.

He said the raiders managed to escaped with 133 cattle because they divided the cattle into four groups, only three of which the youths recovered.

“It was around 3:00 p.m. when suspected Murle raiders happened to raid thousands of cattle from Malithoor cattle camp near Bangashorot next to Central Equatoria border and tried to move toward Pibor and local youths fought them three times until they recovered large numbers of cattle,” he said.

The clashes started at around 3:00 p.m. lasting until 3:00 a.m. the following day. But the source said there were no serious casualties from their side except one wounded person from their side.

Malueth Machar further claimed that the dead bodies of the raiders prove their tribal identity because of missing lower teeth and their rings on the hand.

Bor County Commissioner Isaac Mamer Ruk declined to speak about the incident when he was contacted this morning for further information.
