Two traders have been shot dead by gunmen in ambush on vehicles that they were riding in along the Renk-Jalhak road in Northern Upper Nile, a government official said.
The attack happened on Friday around 8 pm.
Northern Upper Nile’s information minister Albino Wanthou Padiet told Radio Tamazuj that the two including an Ethiopian national were killed when unknown gunmen attacked their two vehicles on Friday, adding that the incident resulted in the wounding of three others.
“The three people have sustained minor injured and they have been taken to Renk Military Hospital for treatment. The attack occurred when the gunmen attacked vehicles on their way from Renk to Jalhak,” Padiet said.
The state minister said security forces were pursuing the attackers who fled after the incident. He further said the state government condemns attacks on innocent civilians.
