At least two people were killed in an attack on local residents in Twic South County of South Sudan’s Jonglei state on Friday, a local official said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, Daniel Deng Manyok, the county commissioner said the incident occurred at Honygak cattle camp when an armed group attacked local youth who were moving to Pajiek-Kuei area.

“Those local youth fell into an ambush while going to an area called Pajiek-Kuei at 3 pm. Two were killed while one escaped unhurt, “he said.

Deng added, “The attackers are armed Murle criminals because they also looted two cars belonging to aid agencies between Jalle and Patiou”.

The county commissioner has appealed to the authorities in the neighboring Boma State to control movement of armed youth across the borders.

Boma authorities could not immediately be reached for comment.
