At least two people were killed in a deadly attack on a commercial boat in South Sudan’s Eastern Lakes State on Tuesday night.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday morning, Aleu Malual, the information secretary for Jonglei’ s Boat Union said the incident occurred in an area between Fangak and Eastern Lakes states.

He explained that the commercial boat was attacked while returning to Bor town after delivering food aid to people in Fangak.

The official pointed out that several boats remained stranded in Fangak state after the incident.

Aleu appealed to Jonglei authorities to protect commercial boats operating between Jonglei and its neighboring states.
