Two people were killed and eight others wounded at Malual-Adior cattle camp in Gogrial East County of Warrap State on Tuesday morning, a local official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, the Secretary General of the defunct Gogrial State, Albino Akol Thony said cattle raiders killed two people at the cattle camp before they were repulsed by the local youth.
He further said two young girls were among the wounded people.
“The incident happened on March 17 in a cattle camp called Malual-Adior. Cattle raiders believed to be from former Northern Liech State attacked the camp,” said Akol.
The official further said three seriously wounded people were referred to Wau Teaching Hospital while Kuacjok Hospital is handling minor cases.
Akol said the same group attacked and burned houses near Malual-Adior cattle camp on Wednesday, with no casualties reported.
He said forces were sent to the area to quell the situation.
Akol urged Unity State authorities to apprehend the perpetrators of the attack as per the border agreement.
Authorities in Unity State could not easily be reached for comments.
