Authorities in Torit East County in Torit State say two gunmen opened fire into a group of people during a social gathering, leaving two people dead and two others injured in Oguruny village on Sunday.
Torit East County Commissioner Toby Majak Thomas told radio Tamazuj Monday that the incident occurred at round 8 pm. He accused local youth from Iloli village of being behind the attack.
The local official pointed out that the wounded people were receiving treatment at Torit Hospital. Commissioner Majak described the perpetrators as enemies of peace.
‘’These are individuals who don’t want peace because when there is peace, people will move and they will not get a chance that’s why they are still continuing with the sabotage,” he said.
The local official said footmarks traced later after the incident showed that the attackers headed toward Iloli village.
‘’I talked to the chief and the youth, so I told them that what I want is to bring the two people. They should not hide criminals,’’ he stressed.
