Armed robbers ambushed a car along the Kapeota-Narus road in Eastern Equatoria State on Sunday, injuring a Kenyan driver and a South Sudanese businessman, police said.
Several properties and unspecified sums of money were also lost.
Major General Anthony Adil, the police director for greater Kapoeta told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the injured are receiving treatment at Kapoeta Hospital.
“People were yesterday [Sunday] shot on Narus road. Two people, a Kenyan national and a South Sudanese were injured in a private vehicle which was coming from Narus to Kapoeta,” he explained.
The police officer said the ambush occurred at Aerial, a place where most of the armed robberies have taken place this year.
He said forces are deployed in the area to prevent such crimes. “We instructed drivers to always carry escorts, but most of them escape alone and it is why they face such incidences,” said Adil.
He further said several robberies have occurred on the highway this year.
