At least two hungry children have died after “consuming excessive amounts of alcohol” at Man Kuach village in Aguok North County in Gogrial State on Thursday, an eyewitness said.

The eyewitness, who preferred not be named, told Radio Tamazuj that a boy and a girl between the ages of 8 and 10 years old died after consuming excessive amounts of  locally made alcohol known as Siko.

He pointed out the victims spent several days and nights without eating due to the hunger situation in the area.

“It is a very sad story. The children stole the alcohol after the mother was not around, so after drinking the alcohol, they died immediately. It is because of hunger,” said the eyewitness.

Radio Tamazuj was unable to reach the relevant authorities for comments.
