Two men have been bitten by a donkey and sustained injures in Aweil West County of South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal State on Monday evening, local officials said.
Dr. Alich Wol Wol, the Director of the Aweil East County Health Department, told Radio Tamazuj that the two men sustained injuries in an attack by a donkey. He said the injured are receiving treatment at Nyamlel Healthcare Centre.
“The donkey started moving, attacking whoever it saw. It began running to other households and the villagers were so scared. Only two people sustained injuries, one was badly injured,” he said.
The County Police Inspector, Maj. Deng Mathon Akot, said the wildlife conservation department killed the donkey after the incident. “We informed the state wildlife conservation department and they killed it immediately.
For his part, the Aweil West County Commissioner, Chok Dut Chok, revealed that five goats were also killed in an attack by the same donkey. “The donkey has also bitten five goats to death. The donkey was killed immediately and taken to the forest. So that’s what happened here in Nyamlel, the headquarters for Aweil West County,” he said.
