Two fishermen were killed and one seriously injured in Malakal on Sunday afternoon when an SPLA soldier opened fire on the three men who were fishing on the river, a source said.

The two fishermen died on the spot while the wounded one jumped into the river and escaped for his life. The bodies of the dead fishermen were not recovered as people fear to search for the dead bodies, the source said.

“The bodies of the two fishermen were not buried because nobody went to search for fear of being killed,” the source added.

The wounded man is reportedly being treated at UNMISS hospital in Malakal. “Now he is in hospital in UNMISS,” said the source from Malakal.
