Authorities of Mvolo County of Western Equatoria say two persons have been shot dead by suspected cattle raiders from neighboring Yirol West County of Lakes State.

The incident took place in Lesi Payam, where the victims were heading toward the riverside to check their fishing nets.

James Abdallah the Commissioner of Mvolo County, told Radio Miraya that the police have failed to capture the culprits after the latter crossed to Yirol West.

“A group of cattle raiders from Yirol West arrived in Lesi and killed two people. Before the incident happened we had already deployed extra police there to maintain security for the welfare of people in that payam,” he told the UN radio service.

He said the raiders went in the direction of Anok Payam of Yirol West.
