Jonglei State Governor Denay Jock Chagor on Wednesday swore in the commissioner of Akobo County, Puok Nyang, his Twic East County counterpart, Jacob Chol, and the newly appointed Bor Town mayor, John Matiop Achiek at a ceremony in Bor.
The state information minister, Elizabeth Nyadak John, told Radio Tamazuj after the swearing-in ceremony that the coming in of the new officials will consolidate peace initiatives.
“The swearing-in ceremony, presided over by the state governor, was colorful,” she said. “The new officials have been directed to prioritize peace within our counties and then with our neighbors. As a government, peace is our priority.”
For his part, the new Akobo County Commissioner Puok Nyang said his priority will be to foster peace and food security.
“We are faced by insecurity from Greater Pibor youth so my priority will be peace and security for the resettlement of our returnees,” he pledged.
