The Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N) launched an attack on the Sudanese Armed Forces at a gold-mining area on Tuesday near South Kordofan’s capital Kadugli, eyewitnesses told Radio Tamazuj.

The attack resulted in the killing and wounding of several SAF soldiers, besides killing of two civilians and wounding of three others who were staying near the SAF military outpost that came under attack.

A source indicated that the attack was targeting the security guards around the goldmine. However, the incident stirred up fear among civilians who were working at the goldmine.

Government forces declined to announce the casualties following the attack. Radio Tamazuj could not reach the two warring parties in the area to comment on the matter.
