Acute diarrhoea has killed two children in South Sudan’s Ruweng State, health officials said on Wednesday.

Ruweng’s Minister of Health, Simon Chol Malith, told Radio Tamazuj Wednesday that two children died from acute diarrhoea in the state, where some cases have been recorded.

“One child died in Pariang and another child died in Ajuong Thok two days ago,” he said.

Malith, who is also the acting information minister, said they are stepping up the efforts to control the disease from spreading.

“We to want to assess the area first to know the affected areas. It also needs some analysis to verify the cause of the acute diarrhoea,” he said.

The registered cases of acute diarrhoea were being treated in the state, he said.
