Bor County authorities say at least two children were abducted and two people wounded Sunday evening after an attack in Bor town by unidentified gunmen.
Commissioner Isaac Mamer Ruk told Radio Tamazuj that the raiders attacked around five pm and abducted a boy and girl aged two and three years. The two wounded, who included the grandfather of the abducted children, were admitted to Bor hospital.
Ruk accused elements from Murle of carrying out the attack, alleging the children have been taken to Pibor. He said they identified the attackers as Murle based on tribal markings, teeth missing, animal skin clothing, and hairstyle.
He added that one of the attackers was missing his right hand.
Ruk said police are pursuing the attackers, adding that no cattle were taken but that the children are worth more than cattle. The commissioner accused the authorities of Greater Pibor of not cooperating with the Jonglei State government on issues of raiding and compensation.
