At least two children were abducted in a road ambush that occurred on the outskirts of Duk Pagak County of Jonglei State on Wednesday, a local official said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, the county commissioner, James Yien Jal said the incident happened when some armed men attacked a family traveling from Chindiir village to Duk Pagak town.

“A 14-year-old girl and her 8-year-old brother were abducted while their mother was just beaten during the incident. The incident occurred between Chindiir village and Duk Pagak town. Those criminals are from Boma State,” he explained. 

Authorities in Boma State could not easily be reached to comment.
