Two armed youth were killed by the organized forces in South Sudan’s Western Lakes State on Sunday, the police said.

The incident occurred at Akual-Yol area in Western Bahr Naam County.

The state police spokesperson, Elijah Mabor told Radio Tamazuj Monday that those killed were in a group that had stolen two cows.

“The incident took place on July 28 when armed youth who had stolen two cows from an unknown location met and clashed with police and security forces, leaving two armed youth dead,” he said.

Mabor said the organized forces recovered the two cows. He, however, said the security situation in the county is now stable.

Cattle raids have claimed several lives since South Sudan’s independence in 2011. Cattle are a main source of wealth for many communities.
