The government of the newly proposed Twic State has formed a committee to review names and files of civil servants transferred from former Warrap state.
According to an announcement made over the local media last week, the committee formed in August is tasked to look on files, names, identification cards, and letters of appointments and qualifications of each employee in the state.
The committee began its work yesterday and is expected to finish in October. All employees from Twic state who are still working or staying in other neighbouring states are asked to travel to the new state’s capital of Mayen Abun to meet the committee face to face without any attempt to authorize their friends or relatives, said Isaac Manyang Ring the committee’s secretary.
However, Kerubino Nyuol, a civil servant from Twic who stays in the so-called Gogrial State told Radio Tamazuj that the decision came at a wrong time when citizens are struggling to meet their needs.
“The government’s decision is going to complicate the lives of citizens for nothing. Look, the transport from here to Twic is 700 SSP one way and you then need accommodation, feeding, and some money for your family here in Kwajok and to make matters worse most of employees’ salaries is below 1000 SSP. I think this could have worked next year after rains are stopped,” Nyuol stressed.
Nyuol also expressed his concern about the lack of hotels in the new state for accommodations and feeding.
