Authorities of Twic State said the region's diaspora population has donated money to victims of inter-communal violence that occurred in May.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, the state information minister, Michael Mayot, said they had received 13,900 US dollars from their people living in the United States of America and Canada in support of victims of the incident that saw dozens of people killed.
“The financial support aims at helping those affected in four counties of Ajakuac, Wunrok, Aweng and Turalei,” Mayot said.
He further said authorities would use the donation to purchase food items and medicines to help the conflict-affected families.
The official thanked the diaspora group in the two countries for their donation and their concern about the situation in the state.
In May, at least 22 people were reported killed and scores injured in violent attacks carried out by cattle raiders in Twic State.
Incidents of cattle raids have increased in recent months in many parts of the region, with cattle raiders attacking homes and killing people.
