Twic MPs reject appointment of deputy governor without parliamentary approval

Members of the Twic state legislative assembly have rejected the appointment of the mew deputy governor Atem Madut Yak, saying his appointment was not in line with the constitution of South Sudan.

The state MPs in their extraordinary sitting on Wednesday, refused to confirm the appointment of Atem Madut as deputy governor without the parliament’s approval.

The state parliamentary speaker, Mangok Kom said the appointment of any minister or deputy governor in the state must be approved by the parliament before assuming the position.

"Therefore, we reject the confirmation of the deputy governor and ask the governor either to reverse his decree though which he appointed his deputy or to relieve him and appoint him again in order for the house to confirm his appointment," said Kom
