Twic governor urges citizens to avoid hate speech against SPLM-IO officials

Bona Panek, appointed governor of proposed Twic in Warrap state, has urged citizens to not use derogatory and hateful language against members of the SPLM-In Opposition from the area, asserting the country was now in peace.

“We are in peace and the priority of the government has now shifted towards implementation of the peace. Implementation of the peace agreement will require collective work so that it is implemented fully and so that the country can return to normalcy," Panek said.

The members of SPLM-IO from the area, according to governor Panek, would now want to go home to see their family members, relatives, and friends for visits and implementation of peace.

“Our message to the communities is clear. We are for peace, if members of the SPLM-IO come for visit or official business related to peace implementation, they should be received with respect. We have told them, the communities, that war has stopped and that derogatory and hateful speeches should not anymore be used against members of the SPLM-IO when they meet and interact with the people. They should be given respect," he said.

Panek said he was expecting members of SPLM-IO from the area to go home for visit.
