Twic governor appoints three opposition officials as part of peace implementation

The governor of Twic state on Monday issued executive orders appointing three officials from the SPLM-IO faction allied to the incumbent First Vice President, Taban Deng Gai to serve in his government as part of peace implementation.

The 2015 peace agreement allocates 15% of representation in each of the states in the Equatoria and Bahr al Ghazal regions to SPLM-IO.

Governor Kon Manyiel Kuol named Mel Agoth Noi as the state adviser on economic affairs, Ring Jong as the new minister of gender and Simon Ring Nhorom as the new chairperson for public grievances commission.

The governor said the move is to implement the 2015 peace agreement that allows each state governor to appoint members of SPLM-IO into the state government.
