Bona Panek, governor of the newly established Twic State which was carved out of Warrap State when President Salva Kiir divided the country into 28 states after abolishing the constitutionally recognized 10 states, has issued a gubernatorial order appointing his deputy.

Panek, according to the order announced on Thursday, has appointed Atem Madut Atem as his deputy. In another development, governor Panek upgraded all the six payams of Twic into counties.

Panek said President Salva Kiir whom he met last week for consultation had approved upgrading Akoc Payam, Panyok Payam, Wunrok Payam, Ajak Kuac and Turalei Payam to counties to make up the new Twic State.

The order directs the incumbent payam administrators to act as county commissioners until new county commissioners are appointed to take charge of the affairs of their areas after all institutions of the government have been established.
