The Commissioner of Twic Centre County in Jonglei State said on Tuesday that a new shipment of malaria medicines from the National Health Ministry was delivered to the county on Saturday.
Commissioner Dau Akoi Jurkuch told Radio Tamazuj that the new shipment of medicines will help contain the outbreak of malaria in the area.
He claimed that his county recorded over 1, 000 malaria cases since the beginning of September, but many of whom could not get actual malaria treatment owing to a shortage of essential drugs.
Dau added that the medicines will be enough for three months, pointing out that eight hospitals in Twic Centre, Twic North and Twic South Counties will be ready to serve the residents of the three areas and offer medical care to them.
