Tuberculosis outbreak inside Khartoum's Huda Prison

Tuberculosis has broken out in Al Huda Prison in Sudan’s Khartoum State, infecting dozens of inmates. A source inside the prison told Radio Tamazuj that some inmates were killed by the disease in August and September.

Prisoners told Radio Tamazuj that they were suffering from lack of medical attention in spite of the disease outbreak. Taban, a prisoner sentenced to death, said the disease is spreading and that the number of infected inmates could be up to 100 people.

Taban further said nine inmates were recently taken to an isolation center in order to avoid more infections. “The disease is spreading, it killed people. According to the latest statistics that I found, it killed about 20 people during this month and last month,” he said.
