Tuberculosis outbreak in east South Kordofan

A tuberculosis outbreak has been reported at al-Tartar village of al-Tadamon locality in South Kordofan state. The cases are said to cover a wide area. Medical sources told Radio Tamazuj from al-Tartar area that the hospital so far received more than 40 cases of tuberculosis, including from neighboring villages. The source added that the hospital administration had told the state and federal ministries of the cases registered in the hospital, pointing out that the poor infrastructure of the hospital and lack of special sections where these cases can be isolated to help prevent the spread of the disease. There is no free treatment for patients infected by this disease in the region, and the nearest main hospital is in Kosti in the neighboring state of White Nile. The locality of al-Tadamon is located in the eastern part of South Kordofan on the border with White Nile state where citizens practices crop cultivation and herding of cattle.
