Trucks reach Timsa from Darfur

A witness from the Timsah region on the frontier of Western Bahr El Ghazal said that trucks have arrived from Darfur to supply the isolated town.A source who arrived to Raja by motorbike from Timsah told Radio Tamazuj that some commercial trucks from Sudan have arrived to South Sudan’s northern border at Timsa. He said that the two trucks traveled from Buram in South Darfur state.Earlier reports had suggested that several thousand refugees and displaced were gathered in the Timsa area. These refugees were cut off from supplies from the south owing to impassable wet season roads, and from the north owing to the blockade.In a related report, James Kom, the head of the chamber of commerce in Unity state, disclosed that officials are planning a reception ceremony for commercial trucks coming from Sudan once the route between Unity state and Sudan opens.Recent reports of cross-border trade are varied, with some routes still closed and others open either officially or unofficially.
