Truckers complain of illegal taxes in Yida

Truck drivers are complaining about unauthorized taxes collected at checkpoints in Yida refugee camp in South Sudan’s Unity state.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Sunday, several truck drivers said each truck loaded with goods is required to pay 10,000 SSP.

They said the illegal taxation causes price increases for commodities in the camp and is hurting their business.

The drivers called on the South Sudanese government to solve the problem.
