Two soldiers sustained injuries after a truck that was heading to Owiny-Kibul military training centre from Juba slipped off the road and overturned, a military official said Wednesday.
The accident occurred between Abara and Owiny-Kibul areas in Torit State on Friday last week.
Lam Paul Gabriel, a deputy spokesman for the opposition SPLA-IO, confirmed the incident to Radio Tamazuj saying the truck loaded with food overturned while en route to the training centre.
He pointed out that the vehicle was carrying food items to Owiny-Kibul military training centre.
According to Lam, the accident was caused by poor roads conditions.
The deputy military spokesman pointed out that more than 600 opposition forces have been transported from cantonment sites in Eastern Equatoria to Owiny-Kibul training centre.
The preparations to train the unified forces came one month after the national government allocated $16.5 million for the security mechanisms to speed up the creation of unified forces.
The process of gathering fighters into military training camps with a view to forming a unified army is a cornerstone of the 2018 peace deal.
