Truck drivers angry at border blockade

A number of commercial vehicle owners have expressed outrage at the Sudanese government's decision to stop exports of food, petrol and construction materials to South Sudan, along with declaring a state of emergency in parts of White Nile state.

A number of truck drivers told Radio Tamazuj that any vehicle entering the area is detained and goods are confiscated by authorities.

They said authorities also impose a fine of 500,000 Sudanese pounds to the vehicle owner.

The drivers added that they are unable to work after Khartoum declared the state of emergency and shut down commercial routes between Sudanese and South Sudanese states.
